What is SYR?

Show Your Rhythm (or SYR) is a recurring rhythm game tournament located at Arcade UFO, a video arcade in Austin, TX. It is hosted by ikaylol with assistance from arcade staff. Participants will be able to compete against others in some of the latest rhythm games including CHUNITHM NEW!!, In the Groove 2, Pump It Up Phoenix, and Jubeat Ave!

The third series of tournaments (Abyss) will be held from June 8th to July 6th (with the exception of June 22nd). Events occur on Saturdays at 3pm. Whether you decide to compete for #1, cheer your friends on, or watch from the back, we can't wait to see you Show Your Rhythm!

Please check the start.gg page for dates of each event!

What are the rules?

Specifics are discussed in the information document, but TL;DR: don't be an asshole. Treat other players, staff, and organizers with respect and don't abuse the cabs or rage at others (even if whatever happened was really unfortunate). If you're a spectator watching, don't interfere with or try to bother the competitors.

How do I join? How much will it cost to join?

If you want to compete, you can sign up online or at the door. To sign up online, you will need to create a start.gg account and register for the tournament via the link at the top of this page. Payment is $5, taken at the door via credit/debit card or cash. If you have a Discord account, it's also recommended to join the Discord server to receive updates about the tournament. Sign-ups with each event will be open until 3:00 PM, which is when the event starts.

What do I receive if I win?

Currently, the prize consists of a 60/40 split of the prize pool money, corresponding respectively to the 1st and 2nd place winners of each tournament. Prize pool money is contributed by the total of half of the entrance fees for each respective tournament (the rest goes towards the arcade making this event possible). For example, a $50 total prize pool would be split with $30 (60%) going to the first place winner and $20 (40%) going to the second place winner.

Is there a participant limit?

There is a limit of 16 players per tournament. Players who sign up after all 16 spots are filled will be waitlisted, but one person may sign up for as many tournaments as they wish to participate in - the more, the merrier!

What else do I need to know?

Anything not covered on the website will be explained in the Google Docs document linked at the top of the page. If you are participating in the tournament, please read the document thoroughly to avoid any possible conflicts or confusion in the future. Unfortuantely, the tournaments will not be livestreamed at the moment - future tournaments may be streamed as interest in the tournament grows.
